New car, new race

June 24th, 2009

Tri- and duathlete Nicholas Sterghos (West Point, '09) has been traveling across the U.S. for training and competitions. He stops here, in Indiana, to enjoy his first-ever car purchase -- and savor the equipment-carrying space now at his disposal.

Indiana — or “God’s Country,” as my good friend and former West Point Triathlon teammate Will Eggers puts it — has been the site of most of my summer training … and my first car purchase.

Thanks to the Eggers family who, unfortunately, had to put up with me for three weeks.  But at least I ate all the leftover veggies before they went bad.  I am good for something.

I would also like to thank all those at Bill Estes Chevrolet who helped me buy a great car at an affordable price. Now I have a training mobile so I can get to races and places and not have to bum off of someone else.

After an 11-hour drive from Brownsburg, IN, I am now back in New York — with a new car in tow and ready to tackle the Philadelphia Triathlon on June 28th.  It may be my last race of the summer since I am to report for Officer Basic Course at Fort Sill, OK in mid July.  I’ll keep you posted.
